Ron
Iv'e just had that problem with a bitch when she gets excited she flips in the boxes.
I gave her two months away from all tracks and sent her to John Martins (2 weeks)i picked her up today and watched her trail! her head was down and come out like a rocket.
Time will tell if the cure is long term?

Some take much longer than others to mature as you probably know, so it's generally a case of waiting patiently.

The one thing that works well for me is 5-HTP EXTERNAL LINK
It is presently helping a lunatic 13 month old bitch I have here who just hates being kennelled (God knows what she'll be like in traps). I've used it with success on some bad race-track kennellers and it's great with dogs who flip out during our firework season by controlling anxiety attacks.

Most importantly, it's safe and does not swab positive. It might be worth a try using 1 x 100 milligram capsule each morning, or whatever time of day works best for you.

Good luck.

Ron, if you can get the use of a bull ring, get yourself a"sleeve"
to put in the box and use that a few times before you race him again. We have used it very successfully in the past. It limits the amount a dog can move around in the box, and helps the dog to get down ready to jump out.

Ron, I don't go on fb, and I can't remember sending you a number before. My details are on my profile if you need them. If you can get a sleeve, they are well worth it.

Haven't been on here for years
Any how
Bad box dogs as yours I would take her onto a straight and jump her out onto a drag lure.
Start by taking your springs off the box lid if possible. So you can hold the lid down.So that you can easily swing the lid up yourself by hand.
Now open back door and front door.
Have someone with a rag or lure at the front and simple push the dog through the box. Let the dog run out onto the lure or bag in front of box. Just on a lead will do. Several times.
Now same deal now close the front lid and load the dogs into the box. As quickly as possible open by hand the front lid and let the dog come out onto the bag straight out in front of the dog. We're not using the drag up the straight. Simply jumping the dog out a couple of feet. Just make sure you swing the front lid up away from the dog so that it doesn't fall on to dogs body. Di this repeatedly as much as you can. Hopefully make it a game where a great result is that the dog attempts to push the lid open itself.I should have said while doing this don't lock the front lid down if your box allows. Once you have the dogs excited about going into the box and coming through and you releasing pretty quickly then start to take more time with them standing in the box before releasing them. Patience is the name of the game. You must be Patience with the dog and go back a step if not happy but you are also teaching the dog Patience to wait for its reward. Repeatedly do Ur work with the dog until it becomes second nature. Only latter do you need to use you mechanical drag to jump dogs out when your satisfied. Reattach the springs to the box but even then only jump the dog out onto the drag a few metres 10 or so metres. That way you can give the dog several jumpout in a few minutes without knocking the dog up. 5 or 6 times and usually even the real excited dogs start to calm down a bit as you do a few jumpout and they get a bit tired. They become more responsive to what your trying to teach them. When your ready return back to your bull pen or track and see if you have helped. Don't hesitate to repeatedly go back to your box on the straight with short little jump outs. Most get to improve a lot. Also as they mature dogs seem to learn what is expected IF the trainer gives them the right opportunity to

hi steve correct way to do but a quick start box is safer as it still lifts the lid up auto so the lid accidently does not come down on the dog and that will scare them
a quick start also gives them confidence in a box and with the lid.

I use to make and sell and hire out starting boxes and demountable bull rings years ago.
Trouble was the market is not very large.
Make a better mouse trap you can make millions.
We help a lot of people out in those days.
The guy on this thread has a problem with a dog and I was trying to help out with what he should easily be able to use.
Even the so called quick starting box is no good unless the person using it doesn't know HOW to use it the best way.
Any box without its springs on can be used to achieve what I explained.
It's harder to train the trainer to change his ways than to train the dog I have found.
It's no good Just expecting a different box or a sleeve to do the work for you.
Also we have always started early in regards to familiarising the young pups with a box as its a huge advantage to be up early in a race.
Even an average dog has a chance if it jumps well.
This guys dog seems to need to learn patience. I don't care how many times you try and jump them out if your not doing something to teach them control they won't improve.
