Stephen

I would have thought that a knowlegable person such as you and an avid reader & commentator of Stewards Reports from all around the country would know that Wentworth Park is the only city class track in NSW after the demise of Harold Park.

Even my 15 year old daughter knew that ;-)

Cheers

SB

The NCA run The Gardens and quite a few top grade races ...but they are shrude and pay TAB prizemoney ...You need near a city type dog to win at most of the TAB tracks over 450+ metres

Chub

The dumbiest subject I've have seen on here in ages..either it is a not so, very intellectual dig at NSW
or

a completely ignorant question from a person whom as Sandro has pointed out, does his research normally....?? lol

I suppose, as least NSW ....PAYS...city prizemoney.....where are you from, mate....

cheers

Learn to use Google Chub - all you had to do was Google NSW Greyhound Grading Policy and you get a list of tracks by category - but like the others I can't believe you didn't know the answer to the question when you asked it.

And by the way - you don't need to tell us that Victoria has 2 city tracks. Or was your first post just a set up to raise that issue so you could tell us about it?

And in case you haven't worked it out, while NSW has one city track there are two city meetings a week as in Victoria.

On a side note.....Would anyone like to see a rolling system of city meetings spread between the Tab tracks? Perhaps every track could stage a meeting once a year in conjunction with its cup final meet?

I just read the topic and presumed the question must have been asked by a "newbie" from Argentina or something!

Uppercut time...LOL

theres simply three options leave all city meetings at wenty, upgrade potts park to a city track or upgrade richmond.because these are the only tracks that are in the city.thats why tracks on the outer rim of the city are called provicinal tracks because thats what they are.

Perhaps we could also change the term "city meeting", to the current NSW grading policy's term....."Category A meeting"? So now the question of "Have you won a city class race?" becomes "Have you won a Category A race?

This would solve the problem of misleading statements that are often made by some.

Or if your into Harness Racing the City is at Menangle (Campbelltown) and they are currently upgrading Wagga, Bathurst and Newcastle to become the next line of tracks below Menangle.

In 10 years I predict that NSW will have 3 City meetings (or Category A) per week:

1) Thursday Night - Dapto
2) Friday Night - Bathurst
3) Saturday Night - Gosford

Potts Park will be converted to loam, made a Tab meeting, race weekly, and trial 2 or 3 times a week.

Wpark will be gone completely.

As long as they pay city prizemoney, I couldn't care less what tracks they want to classify as 'city'....put on a meeting at Goulburn or Mudgee and give say, $6000 to the winner....do you think the meeting will be confined to Z grade dogs with nothing but the locals?.....don't think so... Prizemoney is like a magnet....pay top class dollars and you will get the better class dogs/trainers.

How many greyhound properties around Sydney will be gone in the next few years with the Housing Estates being built in Western Sydney and South West Sydney.

Where will these trainers move to?

Have to disagree Dean

They have reinvested TOO MUCH into Wenty in the last few years to walk out in only 10 years....the upgrade is part of much longer process of regeneration.....If they were going to get out, they simply would not have done the upgrade and would be looking at a wider picture NOW....

Dapto isn't a city track, infact its a terrible track, overall..shouldn't even be on Thursday...

and as for the other two...You put Bathurst whom only in recent times has turned TAB,and Gosford, infront of Richmond....Richmond is by far the better track, most central of the majority of bigger participants and certainly a better, punting track....

And as Pott Park.....I don't think it will get TAB status because whom owns the land and it goes againt any rationalisation of tracks, which will become in the not to distinct future, will become one of the big issue/s

cheers

Maybe Shane...

I guess it depends on so many things which may or may not happen:

1) Greyhound properties around Sydney are either sold to developers or become so expensive that trainers sell out and take the cash.

2) Petrol prices go up? If the greens have their way they will. Trainers find they need to live near the tracks they intend racing at.

3) Global Warming takes hold and Sea levels rise and WPark becomes a swamp.

4) Governments wanting to attract people to Country NSW make a deal with Greyhound racing too good to refuse.

But seriously,
the reason I suggested these tracks in one is South, One North and one West of Sydney.

Plus 2 of them are GBOTA controlled and realistically any City Tracks outside of Sydney would need to be GBOTA controlled as they control the industry.
Probably any three tracks could be used and if they are in an area where trainers can afford to purchase land they will take off. eg Lismore, Bathurst, Temora.

You could be right but that 10 years is too soon but oneday Wpark will not be an option for trainers.

Stephen

Firstly, what has Victoria got to do with your original question of how many city class tracks there are in NSW?

Secondly, of course we have more stewards reports than the other states of Australia because of what you said...we have more tracks.

Thanks for your contribution Stephen.

if goulburn becomes tab c and potts park joins it the outlook in n.s.w will look a lot brighter.
